Circular solutions for a cleaner planet

Our Vision: World leading provider of chemical recycling technology

The Challenge

Plastic

Plastics are strong, durable, lightweight, energy efficient and low-cost materials and represents wide family of polymers. These are probably among the smartest inventions in mankind.

Plastics have become a obvious and popular choice for many applications including packaging, electronics, appliances, healthcare, automotive and infrastructure.

The huge consumption of plastics creates therefore challenges with waste management, littering and use of fossil resources.

Our solution

The future of Chemical recycling

We are developing new solutions to solve current challenges through a flexible, modular and scalable process that combines polymer and plastic expertise with advanced chemical technology.

Our technology

A robust and circular technology platform

We have designed a new, robust and circular technology platform for chemical recycling of plastics, complimented by an adapted waste management technology and a modern thermochemical conversion technology. By combining these processes, we form a method that meets the circular economy’s need to repeatedly recycle chemical building blocks (monomers) from plastic waste, and enable the production of virgin polymers.

Your value

To infinity and beyond

Less stringent requirements for raw material quality, greater flexibility, reliability in the pyrolysis process and ultimately a better future for our planet and generations to come.

Facts and statistics

More than 360 million tons of plastics were produced in 2019

In Europe, close to 40% of plastics is used for packaging

Packaging waste accounts for half of the plastic waste

More than 90% of plastics is not recycled (globally)

Mechanical recycling can’t keep up with EU’s goals for recycling of plastics

Value chain

The importance of a sustainable future

We recognise the importance of a sustainable future and shall meet organisational objectives and create long-term value. Reporting on our environmental, social and governance performance transparently is essential to building stakeholder confidence and loyalty. We aim to achieve a more sustainable approach to the planet’s plastic challenge by building a resilient and sustainable supply chain. We shall maintain high standards of governance and meet our responsibilities to society.

Sustainability

SDGs Sustainability Goals

We consider the SDGs an important initiative for realizing a sustainable society and improving people’s quality of life through solving global social and environmental issues. While defining our goals, we focused on prioritizing our contribution to the SDGs according to our direct and indirect impact and we selected the relevant SDGs targets.

Pointbreak will create sustainable job opportunities by developing and making technology available to countries suffering from huge amounts of plastic and poverty.

Norway is known for developed high quality engineering expertise and it is important that we use this knowledge to stimulate innovation. Pointbreak shall provide expertise within the plastics value chain and inspire technological innovation.

The challenging plastics waste fraction the CR-process is designed for is originating from packaging playing a major role in reducing food waste. Without a sustainable solution to recycling, the use of less efficient protective packaging can be enforced. The circular use of plastics waste to produce new plastic materials will increase the resource efficiency, reduce the consumption of fossil resources as well as minimise CO2 emissions.

By circular use of the carbon in plastics waste, the total CO2 emissions is reduced. Compared to making plastics from fossil feedstock, the CO2 emissions is reduced by xx%.

From “why it matters: LIFE BELOW WATER” Every year, an estimated 5 to 12 million metrictonnes of plastic enters the ocean, costing roughly $13 billion per year – including clean-up costs and financial losses in fisheries and other industries. About 89% of plastic litter found on the ocean floor are single-use items like plastic bags. Plastics waste ending up as litter in water is a recognised global problem, causing reduced quality of life and wellbeing for humans and can affect the natural balances. The transformation of contaminated plastics waste to valuable high-quality products will stimulate sustainable behaviour and reduction of littering an irresponsible waste handling.
